redev is an eclectic art-rock project from the UK. Forming in late 2024, the project builds upon bandleader James Corley’s decade of experience writing and recording music. An award-winning and highly trained composer, James’s style is as distinctive as it is unusual, drawing upon influences from alternative rock, classical music, and experimental electronica. Ruthless pursuit in combining these styles over the years has resulted in his quirky and idiosyncratic approach to music and production, giving redev a unique and genre-agnostic sound.

Prior to the band dynamic and art-rock aesthetic, redev existed as an instrumental electronic project. The album ‘Digital Dust’ was released independently in 2021 and explores how the aesthetics of glitch and acousmatic sound can exist in tandem with melodies and rhythms originating in rock and pop music, foreshadowing the more drastic shift towards alternative rock that was to come. Selected tracks were showcased at the 2022 NOIZ night at the Bishopsgate Institute in London, and the 2021 MANTIS festival of Electroacoustic Music.

2026 will see the release of ‘The Dunning-Kruger Space Opera’, redev’s debut album as a fully fledged musical project ready for the stage. ‘Pariah Superstar’ leads as the debut single for this album arc, taking the listeners on a hyperpop infused progressive rock journey and acting as the modus operandi for upcoming releases.

Sitting on a huge vault of songs ready to be recorded, redev is primed to be a powerful vessel for all manner of music, from quirky tunes that make you dance and sing, to viscerally blunt songs about bipolar disorder, abuse, social interaction, and power struggles.

Ultimately aiming for nothing other than pure catharsis through both words and sounds, redev is built on the understanding that music can be the connecting force between many who may feel alone.
